We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Spring School "Dispute Settlement & the Rule of Law", held at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University from 14 to 21 April 2024. During this event, students from our partner university, Tashkent State University of Law, had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of dispute settlement and the rule of law. Through a series of lectures delivered by our experts, including Prof. Dr. Marc Bungenberg and other esteemed lecturers, students engaged in discussions and knowledge exchange on the subject.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to visit Strasbourg, where they gained insights into the operations of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). They also had the honor of meeting Judge Ivana Jelić, representing Montenegro, who answered the students' questions regarding the work as a judge at the ECHR.

Moreover, the students visited the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP in Frankfurt. Here, they gained practical insights from the Europa-Institut alumni Dr. Adilbek Tussupov and Dr. Andrés E. Alvarado-Garzón, two lawyers who specialize in international investment arbitration.

The students got to know the Europa-Institut and were given a tour through the library of the Europa-Institut, which is one of around 50 European Documentation Centres in Germany.

During the Welcome and the Farewell-Dinner, participants had the opportunity to get into contact with the local restaurant culture whilst discussing the lecture topics.

Overall, the Spring School was a success, and we are looking forward to welcoming our partners from Tashkent State University of Law back at the Europa-Institut in the future!

The spring school received financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service and the Federal Foreign Office.
